Kbrd Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 31, 2026
Kbrd is a custom keyboard app for Android and iOS. The keyboard is designed to keep typed content on your device. We do not operate user accounts, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your typed text for advertising.
Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Kbrd mobile application, the Android keyboard service, and the iOS keyboard extension. In some stores or device settings, the app may appear as "Keyboard" or "Kbrd".
Information Kbrd Handles
| Category | How it is used | Where it is stored or processed |
|---|---|---|
| Keyboard input | Used to enter text into the app or field you are typing in. Kbrd does not store, upload, sell, or use your typed text for ads. | Processed on your device by the keyboard. |
| Keyboard settings | Used for themes, colors, floating height, hidden keys, locked keys, key labels, notification status, and other preferences. | Stored locally on your device. |
| Background images you choose | Used to show a custom keyboard background. Kbrd does not upload these images to our servers. | Stored locally on your device or in the app group container used by the iOS keyboard extension. |
| Notification token and topic | Used to send app update, setup, and feature notifications. The app may subscribe to the Firebase topic "keyboard_all_users" for broadcast notifications. | Processed by Firebase Cloud Messaging and stored locally for app functionality. |
| Advertising identifiers and device/app information | Used by Google AdMob to show banner ads, app open ads, rewarded interstitial ads, limit abuse, measure ad performance, and comply with advertising rules. | Processed by Google AdMob and related Google services. |
Keyboard Input and Full Access
Kbrd does not send your typed text, passwords, payment information, messages, or search text to our servers. The keyboard reads taps and settings so it can display the keyboard layout you selected and enter characters into the active text field.
On iOS, the keyboard extension may request full access so it can read shared app settings such as theme, removed keys, locked keys, and uploaded background image. Full access is not used by us to collect or transmit your typed content. iOS may automatically switch away from custom keyboards in secure fields such as password fields.
Ads and Monetization
Kbrd uses Google AdMob for advertising, including banner ads, app open ads, and rewarded interstitial ads. Rewarded ads may be used to unlock optional app features. AdMob and Google may collect or process information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, app interactions, approximate location derived from IP address, ad views, and ad performance data.
Your ad experience may depend on your device settings, consent choices, region, and Google's advertising technologies. You can learn more from Google:

Push Notifications
Kbrd uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications. Firebase may process an app installation identifier, Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, app version, device information, and delivery data needed to route and measure notifications. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.

Photos and Custom Backgrounds
If you choose to upload a keyboard background image, Kbrd uses the selected image only to show it inside the keyboard layout. The selected image is stored locally. Kbrd does not upload your photo library or selected background image to our servers.
Rate, Share, and External Links
Kbrd may open the App Store, Google Play, or a system share sheet when you choose rate or share actions. Information you share through another app is handled by that app and its privacy policy.
When Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may be processed or shared in these limited cases:
- With Google AdMob to provide and measure ads.
- With Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications.
- With Apple, Google, or your device operating system as needed to install, run, update, review, or share the app.
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or security.
Your Choices
- You can disable Kbrd as a keyboard in your device keyboard settings.
- You can turn notifications on or off in your device notification settings.
- You can reset or change keyboard styles, colors, hidden keys, locked keys, and backgrounds in the app settings.
- You can remove the app from your device to delete locally stored app settings and local background files.
- You can manage ad personalization through your device settings and Google ad settings where available.
Data Retention
Local app settings and background images remain on your device until you change them, reset them, or uninstall the app. Firebase notification tokens may be refreshed by Firebase or the operating system. Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's policies.
Security
Kbrd limits its own handling of sensitive information by keeping keyboard settings and selected images on device where possible. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, but we use platform security controls and do not intentionally collect typed content.
Children
Kbrd is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can review the request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, platform, or service requirements change. The updated policy will show a new effective date.
